How to teach my dog not to bark at strangers?
He is 6 months old and just started a new thing where he goes nuts on every person and/or dog that passes by him. At the dog park he just sits under our bench and bolts out like a viper at anyone who passes and yaps his head off. He is a sweet little daschund but his barking is driving me nuts and it's new. Where did this come from and how do I stop it?
It's a dachshund thing, I have the same problem with mine, and unless you rectify this behavior now, he will continue it. You could try one of the citronella collars that sprays out some of the citronella every time they bark. I'm not a fan of the shock collars (especially for such a small dog). I have heard that the citronella collars (although haven't used them) work wonders. You have to discipline him every time he does this so he knows that it is bad but, training dachshunds isn't the easiest, they are SO stubborn. Good luck!
