Moisture from hardwood floor after rain?
I had my engineered hardwood floor installed October 2007. The licensed installer did a moisture test and said it was okay. We had storm and rain in Southern CA last week. I noticed today that about 3 inches from the patio door, there is a rise on the hardwood floors. It is approximately 2 feet by 4 1/2 feet space that is being affected. There was NO water on top of the wood but only moisture underneath the wood.
Is the installer responsible for this? Can this be fixed? How can it be fixed?
I would think your door is letting water under to dampen the floor.
The person who installed floor is not responsible for this. Put a door seal under your to stop any further moisture ingress. The floor will dry out and return to its normal state. Do not hit it with direct heat or it will warp. Blow a fan over it will do the job nicely
