Shading Blue Canopy
Gothic Victorian Bedroom...?
Okay, So I would like to re-do my room very gothic victorian like. Purple and black are the theme colors, but I would settle for any shade of blue or even red. I need to find like a canopy bed style that looks victorian or gothic and I also need bed stuff too. Like pillows, shams, blanket, sheets etc. I don't need links to craft store and such I already know I can make most this stuff myself.
Please help send me links and what not or idea of how to make things look more gothic victorian

My bedroom is of a similar style: purple and black are the main colors, and I have a somewhat Victorian-theme going on. Here are my suggestions!
- If you're good at sewing, you can take the time to make your own custom bed set and accessories. It doesn't have to be complicated, since you're mostly going to be sewing two flat sheets of fabric together. I made all of my curtains, table dressings, and my own bed cover. I suggest using lace, brocade, satin, crushed velvet, tulle (I used black tulle with glitter for one set of curtains) and the sort... I also made a bed cover from a simple crochet table cover, only I dyed it black. You should buy a simple bed set in the color of your choosing (a set that includes a flat sheet, a fitted sheet, and a pillowcase(s)). I also suggest buying an extra flat sheet of the same size for your bed cover (which will be set over your comforter and decorated to your taste). Just make sure you use a fabric that can be easily cleaned in a washing machine. You can use brocades for pillow cases (since you can easily handwash), but I wouldn't suggest using brocade for a bed cover.
- You can make your own canopy. Here are some links of designs.
- If you're doing any room painting, NEVER PAINT YOUR ROOM BLACK. What I suggest is to go along painting your walls blue or purple (my walls are dusty purple) and paint the trim black. If you're really creative, you can stencil a neat black design along the borders.
- Remember that thrift shops are your friend.
