Would a large rat cage be suitable for a ferret?
I have an old rat cage that hasnt been used in a while as my rats passed of old age. Im hoping to get a ferret or maybe two quite soon and was wondering if the cage would be suitable for sleeping. I dont plan on keeping them locked up 24/7 as i find it cruel. Would a rat cage be large enough ? we can fit a ferret sized hammock in there easily the rats use to sleep in one. So my question is basically would this be big enough or would i be better off using a box or crate setup?
Ok the cage has two large doors one at the front and one over the bed, two flat platforms for walking/ resting on and a ramp to reach the rails then a bridge to get from one platform to the other
You don't say what the dimensions of the cage are, but it's unlikely that a rat cage would be big enough for ferrets. Most of the *ferret* cages I've seen are way too small. However, if your ferrets would mostly be using the cage to sleep, it might work.
