Decorating Basement...Any ideas?
As a college sophmore still living at home, I've decided that im setting up the basement as my lounge/study area/den (think kinda like on that 70's show). The whole point of it is just my own space. Its a large basement, but I'm thinking about dividing the middle so that the other side still functions as the laundry room. As far as furniture, I have a desk, futon, couch, a chair, a filing cabinet (little one) and some little tables. The floors are concrete and the walls are a really light tan, and can't be painted. I'm thinking about making some really large pillows to throw around for more seating if friends come over. Now I'm trying to think of colors and ideas to make it more cozy and cool, not so dank and dark. Any ideas you have to add are welcome.
Go to Targets. They have some very nice things and they are not too pricey. My daughter went there to get and got some really nice things for her college study area.
Pick a color (your favorite) scheme for the basement, and then go out and find what you would like to have in there.
Make sure that the atmosphere is comfortable, pleasant to your eyes, and yet professional looking (like an office).
You'll need a desk, book shelves or book cases, lamps, and things of that nature.
Once you get started, you'll have no trouble making turning that basement into a really cool study room.
