How do I make a large, open outdoor space (future house pad) feel more intimate for a wedding party?
Some family has offered us their property to get married. They have a large, flat house pad with a lovely oak tree on one side, but the rest of the space is open, with little vegetation. We want the space (maybe 6,000 square feet) to feel intimate for only 75 or 80 guests. We're thinking of some tents and, naturally catering facilities...perhaps some large container plants could be brought in. Any other ideas? How can I make this space look more like it was meant for a wedding than a house. We have lots of time until next year and want to make the most of both time and money. Thanks!
They sell large rolls of Tobacco canvas, kind like a dryer sheet material but huge, you can hang it or drape it from light wires, and it encloses large spaces. It's white and you can do so much with it, it's easy to work with also. You can find it at your local farm store or order it online, fairly cheap and great for weddings. You can also put some color in it to match your wedding colors, but I prefer it white.
