nailpolish remover spilled on the table?
I spilled nail polish remover in my new wooden table last week and unfortunately I have a patch of light in a dark wood table that seems painfully obvious. It is a dark / very dark wood coffee table with a rustic finish. The patch looks light brown and looks like a wooden shield has been removed from the table and the wood underneath looks. You can get it professionally refinished. You can try to repaint itself. Since the table is from India, can make an educated guess that the finish is shellac (shellac comes from an insect that is native to India). Removed from the finish resulted in a lighter color, we can make another conjecture that it is orange shellac (instead of clear lacquer.) Buy a can of "a pound of cut" orange lacquer (one pound cut shellac describes the concentration) and some gauze in a hardware store. Ball some gauze and then wrap the ball with another piece of gauze. Dip the cheesecloth was a ball in the shellac and rub on the table fast ciruclar blows nonstop. Never stop moving the ball.
