One pathway has the lightning, & the first light is placed where the two paths meet. the distance between successive lights is 5m, & each has a range of effective illumination of 6m. For the 2nd pathway, find, to the nearest tenth of a meter, the length that is effectively illuminated

Draw an obtuse triangle ABC with angle A=30 deg.
AB is the first pathway
A is the intersect of the pathway with the first light.
B is the second light, successive light, AB=5.
AC is the second pathway where C is the light where you want to install.
BC is 6. (range of illumination from B)
We are asked to find the length AC.
Use Law of Sine to solve the triangle
6/sin 30 = 5/sin C
sin C = 5 sin C / 6
C = 24.6 deg
So Angle B = 180-30-24.6 = 125.4 deg
Use Law of Sin again using
6/sin 30 = AC/sin 125.4
AC = sin 125.4 * 6/sin 30
= 9.8 m
