The Many Uses of Solar Spot Lights
Spot lights are not just the jumbo fixtures used to draw attention to a night time event or location, they are also small and subtle units installed at the bases of flag poles and commercial signs, accent features in yards or gardens, and excellent security features.
The thing about most spot lights is that they must be wired with electrical service which can involve digging trenches, paying for professional electrical services and constant maintenance that includes additional costs for light bulbs and any repairs. These are the main reasons that many people decide to forgo the use of these very handy fixtures, but there are an amazing array of solar powered spotlights that can eliminate all of the most common problems.
Solar spot lights offer powerful beams of light suitable for an enormous variety of purposes. Not only do they serve the needs of professional installations, but they are also capable of adding style and good looks to a private yard or garden as well. They are able to do this for a number of reasons, but primarily thanks to LED light bulbs. These can vary in intensity, color and strength and offer an incredibly long life span - some up to fifteen years before a bulb needs replacement!
Let's take a look at how solar spot lights are used. One of the first widespread uses for solar spotlights is in lighting a flag pole. The proper way to display a flag after dark is to illuminate it, but this is often difficult because of the locations or placement of most flagpoles - such as in the center of a driveway island or in the middle of an open expanse of yard. Luckily, solar spots are literally just sunk into the soil, aimed at the appropriate location and ready to charge. Most will also provide an entire evening of light and some may even offer a timer or sensor to detect sunrise and sunset. Such fixtures are also great for commercial signs or storefronts, outdoor arena locations, and anywhere direct and brilliant illumination is required.
Of course spot lights are also great for accenting a lawn or garden where a particular tree or specimen shrub could be highlighted. Many homeowners actually use solar spot lights to create security around the perimeters of their homes. For example, a dark corner of a yard or a poorly lit front door are both ideal locations for the installation of a solar spot light fixture.
