I recently fitted an outdoor light to a garage, can I add a switch to it?
I recently fitted an outdoor light to a garage, the light is a sensor one that comes on when a person is nearby. I connected a 1.5 twin & earth cable to the back of the outdoor light, fed the cable through a hole drilled to the garage. (any cable that was exposed outside I used conduit.) Then I added a junction box to the garage lighting circuit & connected them together. I would like to add a switch to the outdoor light now so I can leave it on permanently sometimes when I do work in the garden.. Is it possible to add a switch to turn it on and off when I can, but when I’m not there it will still be activated by someone walking passed?
just disconnect the switch leg running to the motion sensor and install a single pole throw switch..
