Mortar can be used this time of year?

I have to install a couple of lamps in the front of the house, which is brick. To do this, I will need to break a section of brick, so you can install an electrical box flush with the surface of the brick, mortar and anchor. However, I realize that the mortar does not set properly in freezing temperatures. For the next few days, the weather forecast calls for temperatures above zero (about 36 gr.), but still below zero (around 26 degrees). I can do this work in the afternoon when it is 36 degrees, or do I have to wait a month or two until it is always above freezing for highs and lows?

I can run a masonry company in the UK, things may be different in the U.S., but the mortar still react the same, provided that they use. A golden rule in the site is that the temperature has to be 3c and rising slightly below this will to a freeze of mortar. Once the temperature reaches about 3 quater, then do your work, make sure the area and the material is free ice before starting work, then protect the mortar from freezing, burlap or insulation is ideal for this. If you can delay the work until later in the year, then this would be a better option. In the past, we have built brick when the temperature was over 10c, we had frost in 2 days late, which has damaged the mortar, so at this time of year, nothing can be sure.
