A cozy feeling overcomes one when you sit on the porch of this cottage. A charming one-room or large storage shed kit, with a 8x12 loft is a wonderful addition to your backyard as a kid’s playhouse, pool house, guesthouse, cabana or artist studio retreat. The loft space allows for added storage of seasonal items and or a sleeping area. With more room and character than a yurt, the building beckons onlookers to investigate and welcomes individuals to venture within.
Jamaica Cottage Shop, Inc. engineered the plans for our designs to be geared towards a back yard do it yourself homeowner who understands the basics of framing a building. The plans are not blue print in style. The trigonometry of the roof triangles has all been simplified with tracing the cut out roof templates. The plans are set up so a professional contractor or a homeowner can follow in an easy to understand format. The proper wall heights and roof pitches that keep the structure proportionate and aesthetically pleasing are separated so a professional can pass by the explanations. The plans do not provide a beginner carpenter with the knowledge of how to build what they do provide is a clear path in a step-by-step fashion. The plans are set up for true dimensional lumber includes a material list a highly detailed cut list with matching exploded view. These plans are the same ones that match our part numbered and color coded pre cut kit.

The 16x20 Vermont Cottage plans will be delivered priority mail. Basic carpentry tools are required; the plan is geared to intermediate carpentry skills. Technical support is provided via our toll free support line. Cabin takes approximately two people forty hours to assemble. Pre Cut Kit may be purchased separately. The cottage kit in the picture has been customized to include vintage 1800’s factory salvaged windows, white cedar shingle siding with paintedEssex green trim.
